Julie Sillitoe: Cab driver crushed to death after building collapse in Holborn named

A cab driver who died when part of a building collapsed on to her car in central London has been named.
Julie Sillitoe, of north London, was crushed when large chunks of masonry fell on to the vehicle on High Holborn, opposite Holborn tube station.
The 49-year-old, who was married, with three grown up sons, was pronounced dead at the scene late last night.

A 25-year-old male, who suffered leg injuries, had to be freed from the rear of the car by emergency crews.
A 24-year-old female, also in the rear, managed to get out of the vehicle before police and firefighters arrived.
‘Next of kin have been informed,’ said a Met Police spokesman. ‘A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Firefighters freed the driver - a 49-year-old woman - and a 25-year-old man who was trapped in the back seat, but the woman died at the scene. The man suffered leg injuries, and he and a 24-year-old woman, who managed to free herself from the rear of the car, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. A fourth person, believed to be a male passer-by, was also injured and taken to hospital, London Ambulance Service (LAS) said. See PA story WEATHER Building. ‘Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended the scene.
‘The road remains closed and motorists are being urged to avoid the area as it is likely to be closed for some time.
‘Officers from Camden investigate the circumstances of the incident.
