Chelsea ‘make Liverpool striker Luis Suarez their top summer transfer target’
Chelsea are believed to have made Liverpool striker Luis Suarez their top summer transfer target following talks this week.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho was scheduled to sit down with Roman Abramovich to discuss the fallout from the January window – along with his plans for player recruitment ahead of next season.
And, according to reports in South America, Mourinho made it clear that Liverpool hitman Suarez is the number one player he wants to drive the club forward.
The Chelsea manager admitted last week that he is keen to bring in a world-class striker to the club, but said the player he wanted would only be available in the summer.
That player is said to be Suarez, who has enjoyed a stunning season so far, and could well fire Liverpool into the Champions League next season – underlining exactly why he was not for sale last month.
A summer move looks more likely, but Chelsea will face competition from Arsenal, where Arsene Wenger admits he is still a huge fan of the striker, and Real Madrid – who have had scouts at a number of Suarez’s matches this term.
It’s thought that the Blues will test the water at the end of the season with a £55million offer.
