Perfect Partner For Gerrard? Liverpool Set Sights On Serie A Warrior

Celtic v AC Milan - UEFA Champions League Group Stage Matchday Five Group H
Liverpool have earmarked Milan’s Nigel de Jong as a replacement for the injured Lucas Leiva, according to The Daily Star.
The Anfield outfit are waiting to discover precisely how long the Brazilian will be out for, with the length of the injury believed to be in the region of two months.

Lucas suffered knee damage in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the weekend and an extended spell on the sidelines would be a huge blow for Brendan Rodgers.
The midfielder has fulfilled a key role in Rodgers preferred system and with the squad now low on numbers in central midfield the Northern Irishman has targeted former Manchester City midfield general de Jong to provide injury cover.
The 29 year-old enjoyed three years in the Premier League before his move to Italy and is now well regarded at the San Siro. New Milan boss Clarence Seedorf is thought to be keen to hang onto the Dutch international as he attempts to rectify his side’s poor start to the season while securing a replacement has now become a priority for Rodgers due to the Brazilian’s absence.
