5 ‘bad boy’ qualities even good men should have

A guy who has better funny names for people than I do and knows how to mock and tease like even the meanest of the mean girls can get my heart.
Some women like “bad boys.” Actually, scratch that. Most women like bad boys. There is something about a man with an “edge” that is just alluring to us all. He’s mysterious, angry, confident, and full of swagger.
Still, marrying a bad boy is a bad, bad move. It’s one thing to have a rollercoaster dating life with ups and downs and drinking and fighting (and hot sex) and passion. It’s another to have a marriage like that. The former is sexy. The latter? Not so much.
Most of us grownup women give up the bad boys for the nice boys once we start looking at marriage, and there is no doubt, that’s the smart way to go. But here are five bad boy qualities we all want even our good boys to have:
1. Backbone: Even a good guy needs to know when to say no and stand up for himself. No one wants a doormat and a man who can’t stand up and say what he feels isn’t a man.

Two bigshots in the Nigerian music industry, 2face and Sound Sultan, were at the HipTV studios shooting a video for ‘a Million Voices for Peace campaign’.
In the middle of the shoot, Sound Sultan did an acoustic version of  the song ‘One’ while 2face rendered an acapella to the sound.

After months of suspense, thrills, excitement and emotions, the Maltina Dance All (MDA) Season 7 ‘The Evolution’ came to a spectacular end at the grand finale which took place at the Convention centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
The tension soaked finale was breathtaking as the five families that qualified for the finals were locked in a battle of wits for the grand prize of N6 million, a brand new car and the title of ‘Nigeria’s number one dancing family’.
In the end, the Briggs family from Port Harcourt, Rivers State emerged winners in what would go down as one of the most hotly contested finals in the MDA history.
The five families that took part in the finals were; the Ikumonien, Ibrahim, Enweribe, Ebute and Briggs families. The grand finale which was beamed live across major Television networks, kicked-off with the families performing the first of the two dance styles of the night – Pantomime.

The Ikumonien family was first to hit the stage with an impressive performance that set the tone for the evening. Their performance attracted a thunderous applause from the audience. Next up on stage was the Ibrahim family. Much to the delight of the audience, the family danced to the 90’s hit song I like to Move it by Reel 2 Real featuring the Mad Stuntman.

Last weekend’s PF show was amazing and electrifying, starting behind a lighted screen through which the Limpopo king emerged before a gorgeously beautiful Niniola followed.
In a performance that revealed that Niniola has grown her performance skills to include fluid dance steps executed flawlessly, it was a delight to view
and shows why MTN Project Fame is the music show to beat.

Anambra guber: INEC lists flagbearers, recognises Ukachukwu as PDP candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on Tuesday, recognised Nicholas Ukachukwu as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the November 16 governorship election in Anambra state.
This development means that neither Tony Nwoye, who emerged winner at the primary election held on August 24, nor Senator Andy Uba, who emerged winner at the parallel primary election will fly the party’s flag.
The Commission yesterday in a statement by U.F. Usman, on behalf of the Secretary of the Commission, released a list of 23 Governorship candidates and 18 Deputy governorship candidates for the poll.
On the list are Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ifeanyi Ubah of the Labour Party, LP, and Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Also, candidates of AA, ACCORD, ACD, ACPN, AD, ADC, APA, CPP, DPP, ID, KOWA, MPPP, NCP, NNPP, PPA, PPN, SDP, UDP and UPP, were included.
The electoral Commission explained that Ukachukwu, a former member of the House of Representatives, was recognised as the candidate of the party because of a recent court judgment which was in his favour.
He had emerged second to Nwoye at the primary election, but approached a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, complaining that Nwoye was not eligible to participate in the primary for failing to pay his tax as at when due.
The INEC statement read in part;
“Pursuant to the timetable and schedule of activities for the Anambra State Governorship schedule to hold on 16th November, 2013, twenty three (23) political parties submitted names of candidates they proposed to sponsor at the election.

Siasia warns Keshi over Ethiopia’s threat

Siasia 1Samson Siasia has warned Stephen Keshi and his players, not to be complacent when they face Ethiopia in their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off.
Many observers have said it’s the easiest draw of the final round, but Siasia says the Walya Antelopes are not pushovers having come this far.
“Any team that have qualified for this stage are a threat,” Siasia told The Punch.
“We’ve played against Ethiopia before, when I was Super Eagles coach, and we had a difficult time against them in Addis Ababa, we shouldn’t underrate them this time around, we have to prepare well before meeting them next month.”
Siasia added that there are no underdogs in African football and urged

2015: INEC warns politicians against overheating the polity

As battle begins for the 2015 general elections, electoral powerhouse, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has warned politicians against overheating the polity.
Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, handed this warning during the third quarterly consultative meeting held between the Commission and political parties in Abuja, Tuesday.
Jega also reminded the leaders of the parties of the provisions of Section 99(1) of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended, which limits campaign periods to 90 days before the polling day and 24 hours to election.
He said, “We inch along towards the 2015 general elections; we have been intensifying efforts to ensure full readiness in all fundamental respects. We therefore continue to solicit for your cooperation, partnership and support to ensure that we deliver free, fair and credible elections to Nigerians in 2015.
“In particular, we urge you to do everything possible to sanitise the polity. You must have an enlightened self-interest because keeping and sustaining our democracy is in the best interest of all politicians, as is for all citizens. We must avoid the temptation to throw away the baby with the bath water. You must stop overheating the polity. You must continue to promote peaceful conduct and civility in political engagements and electioneering.”

The Ondo State Police Command has dismissed one of its officers, Corporal Adegboro Kayode who shot and killed a truck driver, Friday Igbinedion, at the Benin-Ore road on August 9, this year.

President Jonathan is at the height of his powers.  He is not a lame-duck.  He can run for a second term.  That gives him enough time to deal with his opponents.  It also tells them that they better make peace with him now, or they will be in the wilderness possibly for the next six years.  That is a very long time in politics.  By that time, at least six of the rebel PDP governors will be politically dead.
There is a lot of irritating noise coming especially from the North-West concerning the need for the presidency to return to the North in 2015.  This should be discarded as sound and fury signifying nothing.
To talk of the presidency returning to the North is to presume the presidency belongs to the North.  It does not!  There should be no Northern president of Nigeria for the next 14 years at the very least.  After that, the presidency should not go to the North-West.  It should go to the Middle-Belt.
The new PDP:  In the last few weeks, we have witnessed a comedy of errors whereby some PDP Governors, mostly Northern, have rebelled from the PDP, formed what they call a new PDP with one central demand: that Goodluck Jonathan should not contest for the presidency in 2015.  This makes for good newspaper headlines and little else.
It is preposterous to insist that a sitting president should not go for a second-term when he is entitled to do so. Those who are opposed to him should challenge him at the polls if they can.  In my opinion, they don’t stand a chance against him and they know it.
This is a Nigerian thing.  If you start a business and are successful, your competition does not strive to match or exceed your services.  The favoured option is to try to drive you out of business.  They will pay the police to close you down.
They will go to the babalawo and ask him to terminate you with extreme prejudice.  You will come to your office and find a dead chicken on the doormat.  What all this says eloquently is that your competition cannot compete with you. The same goes for the shenanigans of the so-called new PDP.  There is nothing new about these jokers.
All they have to offer is the same bad news.  The reality they don’t want to face is that Jonathan is unstoppable as the PDP presidential candidate in 2015.  A new PDP candidate does not even have a look-in.  Neither does a PDM candidate, which Atiku is apparently reserving as his fall-back position when his shenanigans in the PDP come to nothing.
It sometimes takes Nigerians a long time to face reality and admit defeat.  This is the case with Atiku Abubakar.  The bitter truth is that, try as he might, Atiku can never be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The 2015 election will be between President Jonathan and the APC presidential candidate.  The only opportunity that the North has to produce the next president lies in the APC putting forward a Northerner as its presidential candidate.  Even then, President Jonathan must be the odds-on favourite to win.  As a rule, sitting African presidents don’t lose elections.
Lame-duck Governors: Politics is a power-game.  However, the high jinks of the nPDP are all smoke and mirrors.  All but one of these rebel governors is a lame-duck; meaning this is their last term in office.  With the sole exception of Abdulfattah Ahmed of Kwara, they have all served two terms as governors and that is the statutory limit.
Lame-duck governors have greatly diminished power.  Their opponents know they will not have to tolerate them much longer.  Lame-duck governors run against the clock.  They are soon to be dumped into the dustbin of history.  That is the predicament of these loud rebels.
What is pathetic about their situation is actually their central demand.
These politicians facing a bleak future are now demanding that the President relinquish his advantage by making himself a lame-duck like them: declaring that he will not contest for the presidency in 2015.  President Jonathan is certainly not a fool; so that is not going to happen.
This is my prediction. The rebel lame-duck governors have had their 15 minutes of fame; thanks to the Nigerian news media that hankers after sensational stories. They have made the noise and grabbed the headlines.  That is the end of the road for them.
They have to come back to Jonathan cap in hand.  I repeat, politics is a game of power and, at the moment, Jonathan is sitting pretty.  If these lame-duck governors don’t play ball, they will all be handed over to the EFCC if and when Jonathan is returned as president.  I actually believe that is
what all this brouhaha is about.
These governors want assurances that they will be left in peace to enjoy their booty after their retirement.  I don’t believe that assurance should be given either.  They have gone about it the wrong way.  They should have gone to the President to plea-bargain rather than all this bluster.  As it is, the PDP machinery in their states will be taken away from them and that will be it.
Who are the people going to follow?  Would they join a man who is going to be out of a job as governor within two years, or will they follow a sitting president who is likely to remain president for another six years?  It is a no-brainer: Jonathan has all the cards hands down.
Of all the rebel governors, the most pathetic is Rotimi Amaechi.  He is from the South-South.  Nevertheless, he is demanding that a South-South president should not seek a second-term.  Within the framework of Nigeria, that position is not only idiotic, it is politically suicidal.  You don’t scuttle a South-South presidency in favour of the North and expect thank you from the people of the South-South.  All Amaechi has achieved is to consign himself into future political irrelevance.
Northern political disintegration:  There are still more smoke and mirrors.  One of these is that the North can determine who will be president of Nigeria.  That is all poppycock.  If it were true, Buhari would have been elected Nigeria’s president in 2011.  He won all the far northern states of Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara.  Nevertheless, he still lost woefully by 10 million votes.
Time was when a Northern candidate was certain of victory by sheer weight of numbers.  All that is history now.  The North is the only region in Nigeria that no longer exists politically.  Thanks to Boko Haram, it is now divided between Moslems and Christians.  The Middle Belt now considers itself Middle Belt and not as the North.  What is the point of including yourself in the North if all it gets you is to play second-fiddle perpetually to Sokoto, Kano and Katsina?  The North is now also divided between the elite and the masses.  What is the point of insisting on a Northern president when all it produces are Northern billionaires without appreciable development of the North?
In their insistence on being president of Nigeria yet again, the far North is burning its bridges.  The most faithful supporters of the North politically have been the South-South and the South-East.  The possibility for such continued support in the future is now being scuttled by the seeming Northern determination to truncate the legitimate second-term bid of a South-South president and to deny the Igbos their rightful claim to the presidency. If the politicians of the far North are not careful, they will not get a president from their area for another 50 years.
Federal character: Nigeria is an agglomeration of peoples of different regions and ethnicity.  This must be reflected in the polity.  Accordingly, the North should take an extended sabbatical from the presidency.  Other regions have tolerated a Northern presidency for 37 out of 53 years, to no great effect.  There is nothing to recommend another Northern president in the short-term.  The last thing Nigeria needs right now is another President Musa Yar’Adua with his highfalutin seven-point programme.
Northerners are rightfully the apostles of federal character.  By the same token, the presidency should reflect the federal character of Nigeria.   Jonathan is important as the first South-South president.  The South-South deserves a second-term according to the principles of federal character.
After eight years of a South-South presidency, it cannot be said to be the turn of the North again, when the Igbos, a major ethnic group, have only had a head of state for six months.  Before we can talk of another Northern presidency, we should have had at least eight years of an Igbo presidency.  If after that, the presidency then moves to the North, it should not go to the traditional Northern odd-jobbers.  It should go to the Middle Belt for another eight years.

Collapsed building buries pregnant woman, injures others in Enugu [PHOTOS]

Collapsed buildingA pregnant woman was on Sunday buried in the rubble of a 4-bedroom bungalow which collapsed in Enugu.
It also left the victim’s husband and several others injured.
The incident, which occurred at about 10 pm shortly after the victims had gone to bed was caused by eruption in a nearby hill.
Collapsed building_2It was gathered that the bungalow, located at Ologo, New Site in Enugu North Local Government of Enugu State collapsed when some parts of a hill surrounding all the houses in the area fell on top of buildings in the area.
A resident of the area told DailyPost that the late pregnant woman identified as Chinasa Chukwuka was buried inside the house by the rubbles.
The resident further stated that all efforts to unearth the woman alive proved abortive, adding that her husband, Emeka Chukwuka became unconscious after sympathisers managed to pull him out.
The owner of the collapsed building, Mr Joseph Nwoye from Ebonyi State told DailyPost that he discussed with Mr. Chukwuka before the incident occurred.
He said he told the tenants, including the husband of the late pregnant woman to find another accommodation last week when some stones from the hill destroyed parts of the house after a heavy rain.
He further disclosed that the late pregnant woman had prior to the sad development rejected the alternative accommodation he got for them, on the grounds that she did not like it.
Collapsed building_3Nwoye, who was overtaken by grief stated that the incident happened few minutes after he had discussed the accommodation issue with the husband of the late woman.
According to him, “after discussing with her husband, I went inside to sleep and shortly after that, I heard a loud noise and we came out to discover that the house has collapsed. The pregnant woman died on the spot. My son fainted after the incident. It was raining heavily when it happened.
Collapsed building_4“After we heard a loud noise, we ran out and pulled out Mr Emeka Chukwuka alive. I bought the land in 2010. The 2nd tenant, Cyril Jaja sustained injury. I have asked them to find another place before”.

Gunmen rape birthday girl in front of fiance, shoot fiance, pay her N500

Tragedy struck at the university town of Nsukka, Enugu State, weekend, as unidentified gunmen raped a young girl, who was celebrating her birthday with her lover boy, who was also shot in the head.
Vanguard gathered that the incident occurred last Saturday, when the girl’s boyfriend, identified as Sunday Ozioko, 30, took out his lover in his new Toyota Camry saloon car as part of the birthday celebration.
It was learned that the gunmen, who rode in a motorcycle, blocked the vehicle along Orba Road at 6.30p.m., took over the car and sped off through Orba Market to Obollo-Afor.
They stopped at Alor-AnoCommunitySecondary School, raped the girl and shot her fiancé, who survived the attack, but was said to be in critical condition.
A source told Vanguard that when the two gunmen were through at 9:30p.m., they gave the victim N500, having been dropped off at Odolu in KogiState.
Realising that the girl could identify then later, the bandits allegedly made for the girl again, who was able to escape through a path that led her to a crusade ground, where Adonai Faith Assembly was having a vigil.
Rescue
The obviously horrified girl was said to have narrated her ordeal to the congregation, who she told her fiancee was still lying in his pool of blood.
According to a source, the pastor of the church immediately swung into action, reached out to the police at Nsukka Urban, who quickly rushed him to BishopShanahanHospital, Nsukka.
Efforts made to speak with the victim at his hospital private ward proved abortive as his relations barred press men from seeing him.
Sunday Ozioko has, however, been transferred to UNTH, Enugu, for a surgical operation on his head.
Enugu State Police spokesman, Ebere Amarizu, said police were on top of the situation and vowed that everything would be done to track down the bandits.

“Late Prophet Ajanaku was a liar, he slept with his female aides, used bleaching cream” – Close Aide

aide
Another shocking revelation has surfaced on the late Prophet Ireti Ajanaku. One of his close aides who worked for him for five years, Emmanuel Olasemeji who is a furniture maker, chatted with Encomium Weekly on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, about the real Prophet Ajanaku he knew and worked with.
How did you become one of late Prophet Ajanaku’s aides?
The first day I saw him, I was not attracted to him because of his physical look. He bleached. However, when my boss who was one of his church members introduced me to him, he prayed for me. My decision to visit his church was based on curiosity. That was in 2007. Sincerely, there is no way you won’t marvel at his preaching. He preached with persuasive and authoritative words.
I was wowed. And that was when he was about completing his multi-million naira mansion. And most of the church members volunteered to assist the builders. He asked me to work for God in his house and do the furniture.
I can’t lie to you, when Prophet Ajanaku spoke you would think it was God. His church members saw him as god. He often told us that he wines and dines with God and that if he wants anybody to die tomorrow, it would happen. We all respected and feared him. You dare not say no to his request.
He said he had the power to save someone from ultimate death.
My decision to open up was not to malign his character but be factual. Even before his death, I confessed this feat openly to him. I can’t doubt his power but not as a Christian.
For instance, someone came to see him. He said some people predicted he was going to die at a certain date. Thus, he was warned not to go out. Prophet Ajanaku closed his eyes for a minute and the next moment said the man should go out that day that nothing would happen to him. And nothing happened to him indeed.
I can say that though he was very powerful but his lifestyle and character were questionable.
How many months did you work in his house?
I stayed inside his house for nine months to complete the whole job. The reason was that most of the job was done at night. He won’t allow you to work on the upper parts of the house during day time until he gave you the nod. And mostly at night. If you complained that it would disturb people staying with him, he would say as the owner, all I needed was his approval.
How would you describe him?
Although he wielded spiritual power but he was not a man of God. The bubble burst some years back when one of his personal aides, Mr. Adefeso traveled with him to South Africa on a missionary assignment. The aide is quite educated. He is an elderly person. That was in November 2010. And there is one thing about prophet, whenever he is angry with anybody, he would tell the church members that God is angry with such person and that anybody that relates with such a person would incur the wrath of God.
Thus, once you incur his wrath, the whole church would stop greeting you. Before they travelled to South Africa, there was an issue on ground. He was renovating the church. He engaged the services of one of his church members who sold woods and planks to supply the church.
I supervised the project and it was N750,000. He was to pay after the project. After the project, he refused to pay. And the member knew it wrecked his small business. It became an issue and it was his personal aide, Mr. Adefeso who waded in and said prophet would pay. That was when they travelled to South Africa. When they got back, we discovered they had an issue.
The aide claimed he discovered some of his secrets while on the trip but till date refused to disclose them. However, when prophet came back, he quickly started telling us the man was evil, that we should excommunicate him. I know him well, once he knew you had discovered some of his negative acts, he would blackmail you with lies. That was the same thing he did for Tope Alabi.
What are the things you discovered about him?
First, he is a chronic liar. Do you know that the money he owed he never paid back? The matter was taken to the police at Panti and he denied owing the man. He said he has paid him. I was shocked. They called me as a witness. Though I was scared but I stood for the truth. He spent over N500,000 to settle the case. And at the end we even became the victim. He specialized in turning the tide against people who speak the truth.
He would fabricate lies against such person. And the medium he used most was a soft-sell magazine. Second, I can tell you authoritatively that he sleeps with his female aides who stay in his house. He has agents who recruit ladies in the church who are not employed.
They used their situation to entice them to work and live with the prophet. And some only live with him for like three months before he would fabricate lies against them and send them parking. But none of them could disclose their ordeal because he was a god.
But what about his wife?
His wife, Joy, was staying in the upper room. She only comes down during church services. That’s why most people don’t really know anything about her. She dares not come down unless he gave approval.
We only discovered the truth when one of the ladies who was also the wife’s aide known as Becky confessed to a pastor at Abuja that he was sleeping with her. She was dating a friend of mine who was also staying in his house. The house is so big and many of us lived with him. My friend and Becky travelled to Abuja and he introduced her to a pastor in Abuja. That one now said Becky has a secret and unless she revealed it, it would affect their relationship. It took her four days to open up that she has been sleeping with late Ajanaku. She was scared she would die after the confession but with prayer in Abuja, nothing happened to her. Although we were suspicious but she gave us instances which we were aware of and revealed how other girls too were his sex slaves.
Also, most of his members go to the church with their wealth but left poor. He was very rich. He swindled them of their wealth and virtues.
Though we have never seen him with charm before but he often told us he knows about all incantations because he had been into all sorts of occultism before he started his ministry.
He said they are all powerless compared to God’s power. He is a pretender. Once he was about to discard his enemies, he would say negative things about them and since we were not privileged to see or hear from God, we believed him. That’s what he used on those girls too. He bleached and encouraged the girls too to use the cream. I had to leave in 2011. I spent five years with him.
Is it true that he once had a wife?
Yes. It’s no secret that he had a wife and two kids who died before he started the ministry. Aside that, he had a baby out of wedlock, but he rejected the mother.
What’s the woman’s name?
I don’t know because he was even the one who revealed it to us when the mother came to collect the boy’s allowance of N20,000. Only few aides knew. I was so close to him because I worked for him.
He had four rooms in that house which are exclusively his own. He had a particular room that if he was there for three months you won’t know.
On Friday, September 20, 2013, National Encomium contacted the ministry’s spokesperson, Tosin, over some of these allegations but he declined to make any comment. “Please, I have nothing to say.

A gory sight met residents of Masfala area of Ibadan, Oyo State who were unfortunate enough to witness the discovery of severed human parts in a plastic bag by policemen.
They also found out that their neighbour was responsible for the dastardly act. Abideen Raheem, a 35 year old herbalist, has been arrested on allegations of homicide following the discovery of two human hands cut from the wrists down reported to be linked to him.
According to reports, the suspect is currently helping homicide detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, in their investigations into the case.
Information about the presence of the body parts in the neighbourhood first got to Operation Burst operatives. They were joined by detectives from Ogbere police station, and when confronted with the body parts, Raheem confessed that he was the one who put them in the polythene bag but claimed that he took them from a dead body he found at Ibadan Toll Gate area.
When detectives went to the spot he claimed to have seen the dead body, no carcass was found, an indication that the suspect was economical with the truth.
Raheem however opened up at the CID during interrogation, confessing that he removed the hands and head from a corpse in a grave at Muslim cemetery at Aba Onde area on Monday September 9 and hid them beside the cemetery. He revealed that he went back a week after, precisely on September 16 to take the hands while he still kept the head there.
Police sources said that the head had been recovered from where it was kept, but the identity of the corpse remains unknown.
In an interview, the suspect said it was his quest to become rich that pushed him to committing the act, saying that he knew he was in trouble when police came to arrest him. He also said that the act was his first attempt. The Ibadan indigene, who is married with three children, said he was an herbalist and also into poultry business. “I learnt the profession from a herbalist who is dead. My poultry business failed during last Ramadan period as I lost 100 birds.
“I went to Muslim burial ground at Aba Onde to exhume a corpse from a grave. I cut the hands and the head. I used my hands to dig the grave and cut the parts with the knife I took there. The corpse was already decomposing so it was not difficult. I wanted to use them for money ritual for myself.
“The Baba who trained me said if I got those parts, I would burn the hands along with a snail, a turtle and Sawepepe leaves and mix the ash with black soap. I would then put the soap on the head and would be using it to litter the floor of my room so that my business would get be boosted by the number of the clients that would be flocking my office for consultation,” he narrated.
Though he said he regretted his action, he stated that he would not have known that God existed indeed if he had not been caught. He pleaded for mercy from the government, promising not to do such again.
Confirming the story, the police image maker, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said that the state police commissioner, Mohammed Indabawa, had ordered the State CID to conduct further investigations into the case, adding that the suspect would be charged appropriately after the conclusion of investigations.

“Just our hopes, our fears, our regrets, our joys.”
We each have a throne on which we rule;
the extraordinary things that make us superior, the next man, the mule.
We are kings, crowned by every addendum in life that makes us better,
more suitable than the former, doubtlessly wary of the latter.
Godlike people, non conformists, blinded by our self righteousness,
given the right to judge the weak, for their lowly souls are but a terrible mess.
We are soldiers, driven by our self interests – the human nature of old,
with our beings covered in perfection, we lead the lost to the scaffold.
Captivated by our endless struggle to do the shot-calling,
taking the shots to get so high we don’t realise we’re falling.
We are civilians, made to follow, but ever looking to lead;
harnessed to fears, marred by the past, with scars from helpless needs.
Corrupted by democracy, for when we gained our freedom we became one slave.
Serving our selfish wants, rejoicing in the conflagration of the home of the brave.
We are loners, dwelling in the conundrum of our busy minds.
Searching frantically for something familiar, a thing of our kind.
A stranger to ourselves, a mass of insecurity, each day a different story.
We eat alone, we weep alone, we die alone, no one knows we’re lonely.
We are lovers, finding strength in the joy of another.
I drink to quench your thirst, none different from the other.
Forgetting that the cordage love is, eventually gets weary;
And all that is left is hate, love’s ever present parody.
We are masterminds, eclectic brains, uncertain insanity.
Wiser than the insane, who is content in oblivion, and certain in sanity.
We are better off, though we fear the unknown and doubt the germane;
until life wakes us to reality, until life opens the eternal curtain.
We are who we are because of the people we’re with;
the situations we find ourselves in, the edges of life’s lengths and breadths.
With every struggle we overcome, we become the wiser – a better person.
It’s only natural to want to improve yourself, something only death can jettison.
Whoever you choose to be deserves to be happy, to live life, love people and learn from the mistakes of others.
For in the end we all leave with nothing;
not our thrones, nor badges, nor honours, nor lovers.
Just our hopes, our fears, our regrets, our joys.
The dreamer, the realist, the better immortals.
But for tonight, we are humans. This is who we are.
