Baftas viewers have reacted with surprise after rapper Tinie Tempah high-fived the Duke of Cambridge at this year’s ceremony.
The audacious rapper took to the stage with Laura Mvula for tonight’s awards show and as he performed, he approached Prince William – who was watching in the audience – for a high-five.
Twitter users were, as ever, quick to react.
‘Tinie Tempah just high fived Prince William. That’s when the monarchy ended. Right there. #BAFTAs,’ one wrote.

‘Great #BAFTA opener by Tinie Tempah & Laura Mvula. Nice high-five cameo by Prince William too,’ added another.
Meanwhile, Vikki tweeted: ‘Jesus. Tinie Tempah high-fiving Prince William was THE MOST cringe-tastic thing I’ve ever seen on TV. Ever. #BAFTAs.’
Gifs were also quick to crop up showing the cheeky moment in all its glory.
Gravity was the big winner at tonight’s Baftas, taking home six awards, whilst American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave and Philomena were also recognised by the academy.
