A 10-year-old boy has been hailed a medical miracle after somehow surviving being impaled on a 2ft-long metal spike.
Weverton Silva fell from a tree in the city of MacaĆ© in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil, while he was picking guava fruits last Saturday.
The bar iron bar punctured the left side of his body before emerging close to his right ear.
And doctors at the local hospital where he was treated have hailed the youngster a medical marvel after the object missed all his vital organs and was removed in one piece following five hours of surgery.

‘[The bar] had passed through basic arterial routes,’ Dr Rodrigo Chicralla told Brazil’s Globo TV network.
‘It is difficult to arrive at a hospital with such a situation and survive. I think it was just God.’
The youngster was discharged yesterday.
