Police admit ‘evidence of drugs’ was found in Peaches Geldof’s home
Officers who searched the property following the 25-year-old’s untimely death on April 7 had initially said that they had not uncovered any evidence of drugs.
But according to the Mirror, the authorities have now admitted that this was not the case.
‘While no detail will be provided around specific items I will confirm that contrary to rumour in the media my officers did seize drugs paraphernalia from the address on 7 April,’ said DCI Paul Fotheringham of Kent Police.
‘Our investigation on behalf of the coroner continues and there will be no further information released at this time.’
In a further development police said that Peaches’ husband Thomas Cohen – who was revealed to have found her body in their Kent home – was not under suspicion of having supplied her with the drugs.
‘He has not been arrested or interviewed under caution and there is no plan to do so,’ said DCI Fortheringham.
‘The only statement he has provided related to his discovery of Peaches’ body, which is a standard requirement. We are in regular contact with both sides of the family to keep them apprised of our progress.’
An inquest into Peaches’ death earlier this week confirmed that heroin was ‘likely’ to have played a part in the cause of her death.
Police have now launched an investigation to try and determine who supplied the tragic socialite with the drugs.
