Appiah to get new two year deal
The Ghana FA are concluding contract renewal talks with coach Kwesi Appiah before reaching Brazil.
Appiah will be given a two-year extension after his current deal is expected to expire after the World Cup.
“We have met with the coach and have had initial discussions over his contract renewal,” Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi told Peace FM in Ghana's capital.
The move has come after several high profile names have called for a renewal of Appiah's mandate following his sterling qualification of the team to the World Cup.
Many pundits have pointed to such a move as a clear indication that Appiah has the trust of the FA.
“We want to conclude all talks and guarantee him an extension before we go to the World Cup. We want to guarantee him a contract renewal for the next two years before we leave Ghana.
“We have an agreement in principle in place; we just have to firm up the details.”
Ghana begin preparations for the World Cup next week with a friendly match in Holland, and then another against South Korea in Florida.
