Kickstarter campaign raising money for new calorie-counting food scanner to change diets forever
Israel-based company Consumer Physics Inc. have invented a pocket-sized sensor, SCiO, that reveals the chemical make-up of pretty much anything and sends it straight to your phone.
In short, it means you’ll be able to see the calories, protein, fat and other nutrients in any type of food – terrifying, yes, but it could transform the way we eat and diet.
It can also tell you how ripe food is, even through the peel, meaning we could no longer have that unsettling fear of cutting into an unripe avocado. Phew.
The molecular sensor currently needs pledges so that it can be mass produced, and Consumer Physics Inc are asking people for donations using KickStarter.com.
SCiO will retail at £90. But £90 to find out what’s actually lurking in your lasagne could mean the difference between overweight and getting to your goal weight.
Not only that, but with advances in this type of scanner people could soon be able to find out if food contains traces of nuts, gluten and other allergens.
