50 Foreign Players to Grace Akpabio International Scrabble Classic.

fewer than 50 foreign players have confirmed their interest to
participate in the forthcoming 2013 Godswill Akpabio International
Scrabble Classic slated to hold in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from September
25 to 29, 2013.

President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) Chief Toke Aka,
yesterday, confirmed to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND SPORTS that out of the 50
foreign players expected, 30 are African players while the other 20
players will come from Europe, Asia, South America and other parts of
the world.
Among the top foreign players expected according to Aka, are world
champions including the current world champion, Nigel Richards. He said
the former world champion, Pakorn Nemitramansku, who won the last
edition of Godswill Akpabio International Classic is also expected to
come and defend his title. “We 50 foreign players to participate in this
year’s edition. Among them is the current world champion, Angel
Richard. He has won everything in Scrabble and the only scrabble biggest
event remaining this year, Akpabio Classic, so he wants to come and
pick title to update his grade.
” Pakorn Nemitramansku, who won the last edition of Akpabio Classic is also coming to defend his title.”
The 2013 Godswill Akpabio International Classic is the 7th edition of
the annual championship. Four male categories will be played namely
Opens, Veterans, Intermediate and Masters. The Nigeria Scrabble
Federation (NSC) national ratings will be used in categorise the locally
based players into the event they will play in. All foreign players are
expected to play in the Masters category.
