Sir Alex Ferguson believes it would be a “fantastic achievement” for his Manchester United successor David Moyes to win any trophy this season.

Moyes has endured a rocky start to life at Old Trafford after taking over from Ferguson, and was frustrated again as Southampton scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It means United have won just three of their opening eight Premier League matches to fall eight points behind early leaders Arsenal — but they have begun their Champions League campaign well and defeated Liverpool to advance in the Capital One Cup.
In an exclusive interview with MUTV, Ferguson said any kind of silverware should be regarded as a success this season.
“For David, winning a trophy would be a fantastic achievement no matter what it is — the League Cup, FA Cup, European Cup or Premier League,” he said.
“We’ve always had priorities obviously, and David is aware of that, but I hope he achieves it.”
United, who have never finished lower than third in the Premier League era, are currently eighth in the table, but Ferguson stressed: “The key for David is not to look to do anything better or less but just to maintain what the club has been for 20-odd years and keep the success going.

Ndigbo yet to take a postion of National Conference – Official

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Saturday failed to take an obvious position on the proposed National Conference by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Its Ime Obi (highest decision organ), after yesterday’s meeting held at the secretariat of Ohanaeze in Enugu, said it needed to consult widely before a position is announced.

The group which has been at the forefront of the proposed Conference, spoke through its Deputy Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Isaac Wonwu, who briefed journalists at the end of the meeting.
“We have a responsibility as a group, we also want to ensure that we properly consult the nooks and crannies of Ndigbo and the governors before taking our position”, he said.

Stop insulting Jonathan, wife – PDP warns Amaechi

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi against using disparaging words on the person of President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Hon. Felix Obuah, who handed this warning while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Saturday, also said the governor should desist from dragging the names of Jonathan and his wife to the mud.

Death penalty for kidnapping: West-Idahosa, Agbaje, others divided over Oshiomole’s decision

A former member of the National Assembly, Mr Ehiogie West-Idahosa, has thrown his weight behind Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State for signing into law capital punishment for kidnappers in the state.
The former lawmaker who represented Ovia North-East and South-West Constituency in the House of Representatives, hailed the governor over his decision, noting that the law would only be successful if it was properly implemented by the appropriate security agencies.
“I am convinced that death penalty for kidnappers will definitely send the signal that the state is not ready to accept criminality,’’ West-Idahosa said.
