One of the governors who attended the meeting said that the President actually tabled the issue and was advised to act fast because the leadership of the party and the Presidency were of the opinion that the suspended CBN governor was becoming a major opposition figure as the race for 2015 approached.
The source said, “The President tabled the matter and the governors and the leadership of the party agreed that the matter needed to be dealt with early.
“While some argued that the matter should be left till a later date to enable the suspended CBN governor to serve out his tenure, which ought to end around middle of the year, others felt that it would be better for him to be suspended in order not to cause further damage to the fortune of the President and the party as the race for 2015 hit up.
