Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has disclosed that he used his personal resources to develop the American University of Nigeria AUN in Yola to its present status.
Atiku spoke weekend at the 8th annual founder’s day ceremony of the University in Yola. He recalled the events that preceded the establishments of the University with nostalgia as he paid tribute to the first President of the University, David Huwiler.
“I recalled with deep emotions and tribute to the first President of the American University David Huwiler whom I brought to the virgin land before the university project commenced. When I took Huwiler to the virgin land on which the university stands today he asked me where the university is and I told him here”., Atiku recalled.

Just like a mama bird! Wait… What?!? Rihanna has been seen at a lot of Los Angeles Clippers games over the years, but lately she’s been all about the purple and gold.
So, the singer attended the Lakers’ Sunday home game with her little brother! The two were joking around, but things got extra weird when RiRi approached her brother with a mouth full of popcorn! We know he’s young, but you don’t have to chew his food for him! LOLz! The two also joked around with Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was pretty weirded out by the whole popcorn thing. Yaya Toure Wins BBC African Footballer Of The Year

Manchester City and Cote d’Ivoire midfielder, Yaya Toure, has been named the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year.
The 30-year-old football player, who has been nominated for the past 4 years, beat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Jonathan Pitroipa to the award.

Toure, excited, said,

“It’s a fantastic achievement because I don’t think there has ever been as many quality African players in top level international football as there are now: Aubameyang, Pitroipa, Mikel, Moses, Salomon Kalou, Gervinho… we have fantastic players."

TRAGIC: Final Year Student Drowns in Swimming Pool in Benue

Pandemonium broke out at a community opposite the Benue State University, Makurdi, when a middle-aged man believed to be a student, got drowned while swimming in a pool at a popular spot in the area.

The deceased, identified as Victor, was a final year student of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (UAM). He went for a swim at Symbols Plaza, located opposite the BSU College of Medicine, before the unfortunate incident occurred at the weekend.

The entire community was thrown into confusion, as customers and guests who came to the place to relax, were forced to vacate for fear of been questioned and arrested by security operatives.

It was gathered that the deceased had taken some alcoholic beverages before he dived into the water to swim.

FG gives ASUU one-week ultimatum to end strike

Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike

The Federal Government has directed all federal university vice-chancellors   to reopen their institutions  for academic and allied activities.

The government also declared that lecturers who fail to resume on or before December 4, would lose their jobs.

The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, stated this at a news conference  in Abuja on Thursday.

The development which elicited mixed reactions, has consequently put the President Goodluck Jonathan-ASUU leaders truce meeting in  jeopardy.

 The meeting had raised the hopes of students and parents on the  resolution of the crisis but an accident on November 12,  in which a former President of ASUU, Prof Festus  Iyayi, lost his life, cast  gloom on the calling off of the strike.

Iyayi and some   members of the University of Benin chapter of the union were on their way  to the  Bayero University,  Kano for  a meeting where the outcome of the meeting with Jonathan was to be tabled before the NEC members’ for consideration.

Due to Iyayi’s death, ASUU  called off  the meeting  but  reconvened penultimate Thursday in Kano   where it harmonised its members’ position on the   offer by government

Peter Okoye slams Emmy

Peter Okoye is presently angry at Fashion designer Emmy Collins – he is known for always criticizing celebrities.

Three days ago, Emmy Collins in his usual critiquing style wrote a post about Peter and his pals’ wedding outfit.

And according to Emmy, he just couldn’t understand why Peter and his friends decided to deck themselves in hideous polyester kaftans.

Emmy had written:

If you guys don`t offer accolades to me for restraining myself from critiquing Lola and
Peter Okoye during their wedding, I will claim it in Jesus name, Amen.

Yes, there were enough talking points from that wedding yet I refused to touch them even to the extent that a few comments insinuated that I was playing what someone described as “Pasha”.

Well, I must say that Peter and the dudes on this image were totally off the mark when they decided to deck themselves in this hideous polyester kaftans.
