Two guard dogs that protected Prince William as he worked for the RAF have been destroyed within days of his final shift.
Brus, a Belgian shepherd, and Blade, a German shepherd, were put down after the prince left his role as a search and rescue pilot in North Wales.
The dogs were destroyed on Friday after air force bosses decided they could not be redeployed or placed with a family.

The Ministry of Defence said Brus, aged seven and a half, ‘had come to the end of his work life’ while Blade, nine and a half, could not be reassigned to other duties due to ‘a record of veterinary and behavioural issues’.
The Duke of Cambridge finished his last shift at the RAF Valley in Anglesey last Tuesday.
It is believed that the two dogs were put down on Friday – but last night the MoD said the timing was ‘entirely coincidental’.
A spokesman stressed that the prince did not work with the dogs, which were used to provide extra security at the base.
‘The department’s policy is to  re-home all military working dogs at the end of their  service life wherever practicable,’ he said.
‘Regrettably, however, there are occasions when they have to be put down. This action is only ever taken as a last resort. Unfortunately in this case the dogs were unsuitable for re-homing or alternative  duties and so sadly, for the animal’s welfare, they had to be put down.’
An RAF source said: ‘To be clear they were RAF Valley security patrol dogs, not sole protection for Prince William. The timing of their sad demise is purely coincidental.
'These dogs had played an invaluable role offering security to our personnel over many years and were much loved by their  handlers, who had an extremely strong bond with them.
‘Sadly these dogs had a record of veterinary and behavioural issues which meant that they could not be reassigned to other duties and they were too aggressive to be kept at home.’
A spokesman for the prince declined to comment.

Angelo and Beverly to reunite soon

Beverly and Angelo
The last may not have been heard of the controversial relationship between Nigeria’s representative to the recently concluded Big Brother Africa TV show, Beverly Osu and South Africa’s Angelo, if recent tweets by the lovers are anything to go by. In a recent message on Twitter, Angelo wrote, “Catching up on sleep maaaan, it’s been a hectic but crazy weekend. Next stop Ghana, then Nigeria, thanks to everyone who came out last night.”
Although the tweet inferred that the dreadlocked spotting Angelo may be on a tour of major African countries, many say the lover boy may actually be hiding the fact that he intends to rekindle the affair with Beverly by visiting Nigeria.

tuface-blackfaceAugustine Garuba Obiabo Ahmedu, otherwise known as Blackfaze Naija has debunked the news making the rounds in the media that he has reacted to the recent interview, where his former band-mate, Innocent Ujah Idibia, famously known as 2Face alleged that he actually invited him to his wedding in Dubai, but he declined invitation.

But speaking exclusively with DailyPost on telephone, the Agatu-born Benue State artist said he never granted anybody interview.
“For me, this is not an issue, I don’t know why this Tuface issue keeps coming up everyday. I didn’t grant anybody interview. Honestly. I’m tired of talking about Tuface. We all have our lives to live, enough of this Tuface thing abeg; I’m tied, he told our correspondent.
Meanwhile, Blackface’s latest singles, entitled ‘See You Move and Internet Song’ are currently enjoying massive airplay on some radio stations across the country.

Police IG Weds 3

Few months after his release from the high walls of the Maximum Security Prison in Kirikiri, Major Hamza Al- Mustapha, CSO to late the Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, has written to the Army High Command, requesting for his promotion in the Army.
It was gathered that Al- Mustapha is battling the army for promotion to the rank of a Major-General and his consequent retirement, with full benefits.
The Army said due to his “age on rank”, he should bow out of service as a Major but the former CSO insisted that he was unjustly incarcerated and deserves to be promoted.
According to a reliable source, for the over 14 years that Al-Mustapha spent in prison, the Army high command had only paid half of his monthly salary to his family.
The case has been presented to the Army council and the Legal Department is said to be studying the issue with a view to coming up with mutually acceptable recommendations in no distant time.
The Army Council comprises the Minister of Defence, Permanent Secretary, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff and some other administrative staff.
Director, Army Public Relations, Brig- Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, said that as a professional force, the Army had already looked into Al-Mustapha’s case and had forwarded his petition to the Army Council.
“Al-Mustapha wrote to the Army, requesting for certain concessions but the Army is still looking at it and very soon, we shall take a position on the matter and it would be made public,” he said.

We are working tirelessly to better the lives of our people – President Jonathan

Goodluck-Jonathan_1575226c (1)President Goodluck Jonathan has said that his administration was working tirelessly to give the people of Nigeria a brighter future.
He added that the Federal Government was making efforts in critical sectors of the economy to create employment for Nigerians.
The president stated this through the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Aji, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, on Monday during the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) 2013 annual national management conference.
Jonathan who lauded NIM for its willingness to partner with the Federal Government to better the lives and well-being of Nigerians, noted that government would continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
Jonathan who described the theme of the conference, “Essentials of good governance in the progressive transformation of Nigeria” as apt, said the theme was in line with the transformation agenda of the Federal Government.
He said, “By choosing this theme as the focus of this year’s conference, the institute has further demonstrated that it is always committed to supporting the Federal Government in achieving its drive to reposition and turn around the nation’s economy.
“The numerous and conscious efforts we are making in the critical sector of the economy, to get it up and run it again cannot be overstated.
“The transformation agenda is about taking implementation measures today in order to give our people a brighter future. It is about creating jobs and ensuring the greater deals for Nigerians.
“This is an onerous task that requires the support of all our country men and women. Also central to the transformation efforts is the creation of political and stable environment in which economic activities can flourish.
“To this end, we are strengthening our democratic institutions and confronting the challenges facing our country with great determination and firmness. We can emphatically say that as a result of our economic policy, there have been significant improvements in our economic transformation drive” He concluded.

Call Asari-Dokubo, Edwin Clark to order now – Shuluwa, Tsav tell Jonathan

One of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Abu King Shuluwa, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to call the duo of Chief Edwin Clark and Asari Dokubo to order, by cautioning then to stop making defamatory and inciting statements.
The party chieftian in a statement issued yesterday faulted Asari Dokubo, an ex- militant for insulting the intelligence of Nigerians and declaring Alhaji Atiku Abubakar a persona-non-grata in a country that belongs to all Nigerians.
“Unfortunately, even Clark has turned the issue of Presidency to an Ijaw fight. Where were they in 2011 when Nigerians trooped out in their numbers to vote for a Nigerian President, not an Ijaw President?”
“These people’s utterances are becoming unwarranted. Is this the first time the minority in Nigeria is producing a President in the country?,” he asked.
Similarly, a former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has also cautioned that the duo should be called to order.
Tsav in a statement issued in Makurdi, Benue State capital on Monday said , “Our soldiers fought to keep Nigeria as one, during which many lost their lives, where was Asari Dokubo? He cannot and should never destroy a house which he did not partake in building.
“Asari Dokubo has no monopoly of violence, unfortunately Nigeria is a country where the enforcement of law is discriminatory in favor of government and party thugs; that is why anyone on the payroll of government can threaten to unleash bloodbath in the country and security agencies are doing nothing about such threats.”
“I urge President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Edwin Clark for whom Asari Dokubo is working for to tame him and call him to order; while I also call on former Presidents Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo and other eminent Nigerians not to withdraw from the ongoing peace talks.”

Anambra Government will spend N12.5bn to make education sector attractive – Obi

Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra on Tuesday said the state government would spend N12.5 billion to make education sector more attractive before the end of his tenure.
Obi, who presented the cheques in Awka, said that it was part of the government’s “final push’’ in the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to further develop the state.
“The system must change. The children are the future leaders we have and you, the teachers are paying a prize now to train the children of other people, God will do the same to you,’’ he said.
According to him, N5 billion each will be spent on each of the eight MDGs programmes in order to ensure a secure future for the children of the state.
He said that the state government would employ 4, 000 teachers, 2,000 each for primary and secondary schools as well as 2, 000 civil servants before the end of 2013.
Obi added that a separate account had been opened for the payment of the 6,000 would-be workers till December, 2015.
The governor also gave out N1.94 billion cheque to the public primary schools for the provision of instructional materials and infrastructure in the state.
Obi also said N1.5 billion would be injected into agriculture, while 510 primary and secondary schools across the state would receive a bus each.
According to him, government will provide each nursing school with N200 million while seven new fire fighting trucks and stations will be provided for new areas.
“We are giving the cheque today because we know that education sector drive and make things better for us because we want Anambra to work,” Obi said.
He also donated a bus to the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, Anambra chapter, and also pledged to take 21 best headmasters or headmistresses, one from each of local government.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Mr Olisa Nzemeka, commended the governor for the gesture and assured that the money would be judiciously spent.
“It’s been so well with us from this administration, especially in the provision of infrastructural development of schools in the state,’’ he said.
In his remarks, the National Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, praised Obi for his prudence in managing state funds.
He said the state had had it so well from the APGA government, stressing that Obi had released over three billion naira in the last two days for the development of primary schools.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Uju Okeke, commended the governor for the gesture and said that school pupils had been performing well in national examinations.
Okeke urged parents, traditional rulers, presidents-general of communities and other stakeholders to visit schools and monitor how the monies were spent with a view to giving reports where necessary.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Mrs Azuka Enemo, who also spoke, emphasised that Obi gave schools to mission to revitalise and inculcate moral values in children.
“As a result of his visionary leadership, the governor identified education as a solution to the social vices that had hitherto bewildered our society.
“He has been able to improve our education sector, and I urge you people to support continuity by electing a responsible successor,’’ Enemo said. (NAN)
